Simcha: Orthodox Jewish Weddings

Simcha: the Hebrew word for Joy.

I have been photographing some of my Orthodox Jewish friends' weddings since 1985, and am convinced that the dancing and celebration that takes place around the Jewish wedding is one of the purest expressions of joy in Judaism.

Some may see Orthodox Jews as rigid, especially in light of statements made by individuals who erroneously claim to represent all of observant Jewry. I hope these photos will in some small way contribute a different, more positive perspective.

Guests at Jewish weddings are required to treat the bride and groom as queen and king, entertaining them with energetic dancing and fun. My goal in photographing these weddings is to show what it looks like to fulfil the mitzvah of entertaining the bride and groom.

If you like these images enough to want to hang them on your wall, email me for pricing and availability. If you are getting married and are interested in having me photograph your wedding, email me. My email address is mresnick@idt.net.
